Some stories don’t start with a sketchbook — they start with water.

I’m Peter Domenie, born just outside Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
If you grew up where I did, you didn’t just see the harbour… you felt it. The cranes, the steel, the shipyards, the vague smell of oil in the air — and always that restless movement of the water. I was a water child long before I became a designer. Water never sits still, and neither do I. There’s always something shifting, changing, becoming. That rhythm is stitched into everything I make.

My inspiration has always been the raw, industrial world of Rotterdam. The dockyards, the machinery, the heavy structures that shape the skyline. Those bold, construction‑like lines show up again and again in my designs. Not because I follow trends — I don’t — but because this is the world that shaped me.

I’ve never been interested in designing for the masses. I’d rather create timeless pieces with a personal signature, my kind of watermark.  I design for every body, every shape, every person who wants something that feels like theirs.

For me, designing is a bit like learning to write your name. At first it’s awkward, clumsy, uneven. But slowly, it becomes yours — your handwriting, your identity. Over the years, my patterns, materials and shapes have grown into that signature. It’s the thread that runs through all my work. And I keep developing, finetuning, shifting and shapinmg.
